Your risk of Cardiovascular disease is estimated using a tool called QRisk which estimates your risk of having a heart attack or stroke in the next 10 years, using the information on your medical records.
Above a 10% risk, NHS guidance is to offer active treatment with statin medication as a way of reducing risk (as they do much more than lower your cholesterol).
