Statin Advice for Patients

Your risk of Cardiovascular disease is estimated using a tool called QRisk which estimates your risk of having a heart attack or stroke in the next 10 years, using the information on your medical records, including blood pressure, smoking history, cholesterol and weight.

Above a 10% risk, NHS guidance is to offer active treatment with statin medication as a way of reducing risk (as they do much more than lower your cholesterol) however your risk can also be reduced by improving your lifestyle - we have linked resources to help you improve your lifestyle below.
