How to Cancel or Reschedule Your Appointment

Image displays the following text - GP Appointment? Can't Make it? Don't need it? Cancel it!

We understand our patients live busy lives and it can be easy to forget things, such as cancelling appointments.

There are many ways you can contact Moatfield Surgery to cancel your upcoming appointment

If you are unable to keep your appointment, please give us as much notice as possible so that your appointment can be offered to someone else.

Cancelling with our Check and Cancel Feature

Our Phone System now offers an automated "Check and Cancel" line, enabling you to check the time of, or cancel your appointment without needing to speak to a member of staff.

The system uses your phone number to identify you within our system, and will ask you to use the number keys on your phone to enter your date of birth in a 6 digit number in the DDMMYY format.
If one or both of these details is incorrect, you will be unable to proceed and will need to speak to a member of our Patient Services Team to ensure we have the correct information on file for you.

Once you have been identified, you will be provided with information about your upcoming appointments in the next 30 days, and will be given the option to cancel them if required.

Please try to cancel at least 30 minutes before your appointment time to enable us to offer your appointment to someone else.

Cancelling Online with the NHS App or Patient Access

You can view and cancel your upcoming appointments online using the NHS App or Patient Access. This service is available 24/7.

Cancelling Via Text

If you consent to receiving text messages from Moatfield Surgery, you will be sent an appointment reminder 24 hours before your appointment. This reminder will also contain a link to cancel your appointment if you no longer need it. If you cannot access links on your mobile phone, you can still access this facility by typing the link into a search engine on your computer or tablet.

When you follow the link, you will be asked to confirm your date of birth so our system can identify you. You will then be taken to a screen asking for the reason why you are cancelling the appointment. Once you have cancelled your appointment, you will be sent a text message to confirm.

Rescheduling with our Patient Services Team

Please try to cancel at least 30 minutes before your appointment time to enable us to offer the appointment to someone else.
